Football at St Pius X College is going from strength to strength. More than a third of all students play in college teams across the Junior and Senior schools. 2016 saw the College have 16 Senior teams and 9 Junior teams entered in competitions the largest number ever. At senior level, we are happy to say that with the expansion to 3 teams in year 9 that almost all boys wanting to play football in the College now fins a place.  The senior teams compete in the Independent Sporting Association (ISA) competition. They play a full 10 round home and away competition plus a finals series. At junior level, all boys who wish to play for their school can do so, in the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA) competition.

St Pius X College teams continue to be a formidable adversary in all age group,  with a number ending the season in 1st place.  We had 80% of senior teams play in the semi-finals with 7 teams reaching the final play-off.  Only 1 team came through as ISA Champions but 3 others lost in penalty shoot-outs. 2016 saw the 1st XI reach the semi finals of the state-wide CIS Cup  (they were Cup Champions in 2012/14) and were victorious in the Southern Skies international tournament in Queensland. SPX players have received representative honours in ISA and CIS teams, and have gone on to play at state level.

The FC Committee provides financial support to the touring sides as well as supporting individual representative players representing the College. In addition, all junior and senior teams have access to professional specialist coaching, coordinated by SPX Football Club. SPX FC is a parent driven organisation which operates under the auspices of the P&F and works with College staff to promote and enhance the football traditions of the College.

St Pius X College supports football, and a boy's commitment to his team supports the College. Boys in team sports feel a greater sense of belonging and form many long-standing friendships, and of course remain healthier as a result, both physically and mentally. SPX College is a community, and every boy has an obligation to build school spirit and maintain that community. We have a proud football history of sportsmanship, fair play and outstanding achievement

The SPX Football Club actively encourages parents to become involved with the club to enhance your sons football experience whilst at the College. Family support is critical to the success of SPX FC. College staff and the FC committee do a huge amount of work behind the scenes to keep boys and families informed in their football. SPX FC also adds some icing on the cake with activities like: the Oxford Falls BBQ to satisfy that hunger on game days; specialist coaching for all teams; skills programs; and Holiday Skills camps.

BUT we do need volunteers to be able to run things successfully, so please step up if you can when we call for volunteers throughout the year.

Best of luck to your son and his team in 2017. GO PIUS!!!
